GAMECHANGER
Remote Underwater Diamond Mining System
GAMECHANGER is a provisionally patented remote underwater diamond recovery platform developed from more than 40 years of marine diamond production experience. Designed for precision, continuous operation and minimal seabed disturbance, it represents a new generation of underwater recovery technology.
Invented by Gary Wilson — South African Navy Clearance Diver, Commercial Diving Supervisor & Instructor, Senior Electrical Saturation Technician and Marine Diamond Production Specialist.
40 YEARS OF PROVEN MARINE DIAMOND PRODUCTION
THE THREE
VESSELS THAT
SHAPED
GAMECHANGER
Before developing the GAMECHANGER Remote Underwater Diamond Recovery System, Gary Wilson spent more than four decades recovering marine diamonds from South Africa's Atlantic coast. Three vessels became milestones in that journey. Each contributed valuable production experience, engineering lessons and operational knowledge that ultimately inspired the GAMECHANGER technology.
LUCILLE WAY
Gary Wilson's first marine diamond recovery vessel. The Lucille Way became renowned for the Holgat Jackpot, launching a remarkable career in marine diamond production and providing the first practical lessons that would one day contribute to the GAMECHANGER concept.
SURVEYOR
Gary Wilson's second vessel, rebuilt from a salvaged hull discovered at Lambert's Bay. The Surveyor averaged more than 100 carats per month over six years before eventually being lost, proving the value of disciplined production and engineering innovation.
SEA HAWK
Gary Wilson's third vessel and his most efficient marine diamond recovery platform. The Sea Hawk combined extensive sampling experience with high production across numerous West Coast concessions and became the operational foundation for the GAMECHANGER system.
A Reputation for Integrity
Marine diamond production is built on trust. Throughout more than four decades in the industry, Gary Wilson has worked in commission-based production where success depended on consistent results, accurate diamond accounting and the confidence of both management and crew. Thousands of carats of marine diamonds, including numerous exceptional stones, have been recovered under his supervision. Long-serving divers and crew remained loyal through changing operators because they knew they would be treated fairly, professionally and with respect. That reputation for integrity became one of the foundations upon which the GAMECHANGER Remote Underwater Mining System was conceived.
🛡 INTEGRITY
Trusted for more than 40 years in marine diamond production, built on professionalism, accurate diamond accounting and long-term working relationships throughout South Africa's Atlantic coast.
💎 EXPERIENCE
Thousands of carats recovered through hands-on production as a diver, supervisor, skipper, production manager, maintenance specialist and vessel owner, providing the practical knowledge behind GAMECHANGER.
INNOVATION
GAMECHANGER has been developed from more than forty years of practical marine diamond production experience and nearly five decades as a professional diver. Its four-point landing system, precision remote controls, modular construction and scalable design philosophy are intended to provide a new generation of eco-conscious underwater recovery technology. Designed initially for marine diamond mining, the system has the potential to be adapted for dredging, environmental recovery, river mining and future deep-sea resource applications.
THE GLOBAL OPPORTUNITY
THE ORANGE RIVER MEGAPLACER
The Orange River has been transporting diamonds from Southern Africa to the Atlantic Ocean for millions of years, creating one of the world's greatest marine alluvial diamond systems—the Orange River Megaplacer.Stretching from South Africa's West Coast, beginning around Lambert's Bay, and continuing north along the Namaqualand coastline through Namibia, this vast geological system has supplied the marine diamond industry for decades.Yet, despite decades of successful mining, only a relatively small portion of this immense marine alluvial resource has been recovered. The scale of the remaining opportunity is measured not by individual mining concessions, but by the enormous geological system created by nature over millions of years. For more than forty years, I have worked within this environment as a diver, supervisor, skipper, production manager and vessel owner. That practical experience has provided a unique understanding of both the extraordinary opportunity and the limitations of conventional diver-based underwater mining.
WHY GAMECHANGER?
For more than forty years I have worked at the seabed, recovering marine diamonds under some of the world's most demanding conditions. That experience has shown me not only what works, but also the limitations of conventional diver-based mining.Human divers are constrained by depth, bottom time, decompression requirements, fatigue and safety. These limitations have defined marine diamond mining for decades.GAMECHANGER has been conceived to overcome many of these challenges through precision remote operation. Rather than replacing human knowledge, the system is designed to capture the experience of skilled operators and apply it through advanced underwater engineering.
GAMECHANGER is being developed as a modular, remotely operated underwater recovery platform built around four fundamental design principles:
- Precision remote operation
- Four-point landing stability
- Modular and scalable construction
- Eco-conscious underwater recovery
This design philosophy is intended to support applications ranging from marine diamond recovery to dredging, environmental projects and, ultimately, future underwater resource development.
FROM EXPERIENCE TO INNOVATION
For more than four decades I have worked in one of the world's most demanding underwater industries. Every production dive, every recovery operation and every engineering challenge became part of a continuous learning process. Success depended not only on finding diamonds, but on understanding the seabed, the behaviour of underwater gravels, hydraulic systems, diver limitations and the practical realities of operating in a hostile marine environment.GAMECHANGER was not conceived in a design office. It evolved from thousands of hours spent working underwater, observing where conventional methods succeed, where they fail and where entirely new approaches become possible. The objective has always been to develop a safer, more efficient and environmentally responsible method of underwater resource recovery.
FIFTY YEARS BELOW THE SURFACE
GAMECHANGER is the culmination of a lifetime spent beneath the surface. My journey began as a South African Navy-trained Part II Clearance Diver and continued through nearly five decades as a professional diver, including more than forty years in marine diamond production. Along the way I worked as a diver, supervisor, production manager, skipper, qualified as electrician, prospector and electrical saturation technician, while also owning and operating three successful marine diamond recovery vessels. Every challenge, every success and every lesson learned contributed to the development of GAMECHANGER—a system born from practical experience rather than theory
